In September of this year I went to the northern jungle of Papua New Guinea to help 5 other veterinarians and 4 others build an elementary school. The area is one of the poorest in the world.
The people were very welcoming and worked side by side with us to complete the project. The school was built out from teak harvested right at the construction site and rocks and sand from the river were used in the cement. While there was a great deal of effort before the project started to raise funds and organize the trip, the school itself was completed in 9 days of work.
It was truly a wonderful and valuable endeavor.
