Anesthesia

Caroline Horn DVM, MS
Caroline was raised in Columbia, South Carolina and attended the University of South Carolina. She graduated in 1983 with a bachelor of science degree in Journalism. After a short period of reassessing the job situation, she returned to school at the University of Georgia where she received her doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1990. The following year she stayed at UGA as a small animal intern. The next year Caroline embarked upon an emergency medicine career. For nearly 10 years she primarily practiced emergency and relief veterinary medicine. For 4 years Caroline was the medical director of one of the largest animal emergency clinics in the southeast. Wanting to do something different, she returned to school and received a masters in anesthesia and patient monitoring from Emory University in 2002. Since then Caroline has worked taking care of people.

“If I could sum up my job, it is to try to take the best possible care of a patient given their particular circumstances and needs at the time they require surgery. It is the tailoring of an anesthetic to an individual, given their particular illnesses and surgical needs, that is the most rewarding. That is what I enjoy doing, taking care of the critically ill - both children and the elderly, dogs and cats. If I may be bold, I think I can anesthetize most mammals and do it well.”

Caroline provides anesthesia support for our most critical patients and can provide many of the most sophisticated techniques and medications available in human or veterinary anesthesia.

In addition Caroline is responsible for all anesthesia for the Lynks group CT service.

We all love having her on our team!
